Flying Legends at Duxford

11 Jul

I was very lucky to attend the Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford a few weeks back, here are some snippets of what went on.

There were a lot of Spitfires, Tiger Moths, a Hurricane and of course, Sally B, the flying fortress!

I ran into OPS 39-45, who is a RAF re-enactment group and they insisted that I tried on a Irvin jacket and a Mae West, one of them even scooped me up!

There is another airshow in September, which I will be attendting, maybe even as a guest of the re-enactment group, since I have for a long time considered joining some sort of re-enactment. I will have do get a hold of a boiler suit and flex my best ‘Yes we can’ arm!

More pictures will be up on Darhling Photography very soon!

Until then.

50s Event at Gressenhall

4 Jun

So many people braved the weather and ventured out to Gressenhall, where a spectacular event had been organized! A 50s event with fashion show showcasing fashions from the era in the categories daywear, eveningwear and leisure. There was a DJ spinning tunes for everyone to get up and jive to, complete with lessons for those who wished to learn more. Re-enactment to show how Gressenhall functioned in the 50s, as an old peoples home and a place for single mothers. A barber was ready to give a haircut to gentlement and the Historical Suaces had their readingroom which was highly popular.

The Historical Sauces also gave their popular ‘licks and flicks’ makeover to any visitor and retro red lipsticks were available for purchase, or you could sit down with a nice cuppa and browse through all the books and look through the special Coronation table they had set up for the Jubilee event.

For the full gallery, please click on the picture.

I took part of the fashion show, showcasing my little white suit and my 50s umbrella and Dior’esque hat! My fellow ladies in the fashion show were utterly fabulous and showed the various fashions from the decade, all organized by Karen James-Welton from Blue Skies Vintage Event.

Much fun were to be had and I can’t wait to go back and photograph some more fabulous events coming up!

Getting ready for Gressenhall!

3 Jun

It’s going to be a grand day at Gressenhall today. My own 50s suit and ladies umbrella might be good enough for modelling!

I will post again with a selection of snapshots so stay tuned!

Oh and tomorrow I will be shooting at the ladies Jubilee tea party at my favourite pub, The Mulberry on Unthank Road in Norwich.

Joline & Davids beautiful vintage wedding with a twist

31 May

Friday the 25th I had the pleasure of attending and photographing Joline and David at their stunning wedding. It was held in the gorgeous Catholic Cathedral in Norwich.

The party was so much fun, with the bride and groom entertaining the guests with their own band, the bride on drums, still in her wedding dress and the groom on guitar! We partied until late and I managed to get a snapshot of the couple sneaking out for a kiss in the moonlight.

Many thanks to Joline and David for a wonderful wedding!

My new and proper website is up!

21 Dec

So I finally managed to make myself a proper website for Darhling Photography. I still want to do more with it, such as automatic blog display on the front page, galleries with music playing (some Andrews Sisters for the Chap gallery etc) but all in due time!

The new website is!

RAF Chaps

14 Dec

I had the glorious opportunity to shoot some very dashing young chaps in their RAF uniforms. They are part of the re-enactment scene and really looks spot on!

Have a look under The Chaps and see the pics!

RAF style engagement

12 Dec

Annie and Dicky had a RAF style mind for their engagement pictures, so with that in mind, we kept it very prim and proper – after all, Dicky only had 24 hours leave before going back to base and flying his Spitfire, to protect the nation and his Annie.

See more pictures under the Wedding & Engagements.

Shooting a RAF style engagement

10 Dec

Getting ready to shoot a beautiful couple in Victoria Park. It is going to be an RAF shoot and while waiting for the couple, 4 dashing young chaps in full RAF uniforms walked in the café! I wonder if they are part of the shoot?!

On another note, I’m so pleased with my Dead Men Spex glasses that turn dark in the sun, perfect for bright winter days.

Norwich at dusk

5 Dec

A little snapshot of the St. Peter Mancroft church in Norwich. This beautiful church is a favourite for couples getting married and it is just as lovely in the day as it is as night.

Any couples getting married and need a photographer to capture your special day with elegance, glamour and old Hollywood style, just go to ‘About Darhling’ and send me an email or give me a call.
